Class B



  • A component (transistor, tube, Jfet etc) in Class B mode is biased to operate through half of the entire cycle of an applied AC signal.

  • A Class B circuit will operate for 180 degrees (or 50%) of the signal, either positive or negative.

  • Class B has inherent crossover distortion.

  • The maximum efficiency of a Class B circuit is approximately 78%
