Additions:

  • A component (transistor, tube, Jfet etc) in Class AB mode is biased to operate through part of the entire cycle of an applied AC signal.
  • A Class AB circuit will operate for more than 180 degrees (or 50%) but less than 360 degrees (or 100%) of the signal, either positive or negative.
  • Class AB has inherent crossover distortion.
  • The maximum efficiency of a Cass AB circuit greater than Class A but less than Class B
