    Bias
Current in an electronic circuit which serves to set the DC operational voltage of the components when no signal is present. A bias current is necessary to prevent distortion of the signal. 
In a tube amp it is important to properly bias the output tubes. Most preamp tube circuits are self-biasing and require no adjustment.
