    Rick,

I'm thinking of a 2X10 bottom for my Super Reverb head we spoke
about. Any recommendation on speakers? Lots of folks seem to like Webers for this kind of amp.

    Regards,
    Eric

I'm not Rick but it seems that Webers P10Q equivalent (10A125?) gets good reviews from SR users. On the Weber board, the favorite thing seems to match different speakers together, like the P10Q and the C10N.

I have bought speakers from Ted Weber a couple of times and they are really good, both value and tone-wise. It can take a while before your speakers get shipped. I've been waiting for almost a month on a new Weber...

You can email him with specific questions as well and his replies are fast and informative.

Finally. you might also check out Eminence's new line of speaker which are getting good reports as well.

    Good luck.

These are great suggestions and definitely worth checking out. Generally I prefer Celestions when it comes to 12" models but with 10" speakers I can't say what I could recommend. The Blue Fender Bassman reissue speakers sound quite good but are fragile. I have seen some Pearce 10"ers in some Supers that seemmed to be OK. Webers I haven't tried yet.

I hear tell (unconfirmed) that Stevie Ray Vaughan used EV models..... "the amp was glued to the floor" as it was told to me. The Jensen reissue line from Italy is very well done. Eminence is now the standard speaker used by all manufacturers and is a great value for for your money.

I still wish that I could find a 10" Celestion that I liked.

There are so many speaker choices these days (too many?) that it may take a while until you find "da tone". Speakers can add so much color to your tone that your playing style and repertoire goes in-line with your speaker choice.

Take Weber for example. They will build you almost whatever you want. Want a P12R clone with a bigger magnet, VC, dope, no dope? British cone? Their speaker line is made from "mecanically and electrically cloning" most of the speakers that became famous in the guitar realm : Jensen, JBL D-series, EV SRO's, Celestion plus some hybrif models. This is all great for some tone freak who is looking for "a bit more high-mid definition" but for your first time looking around for a new speaker, it can sure be confusing.

Personnaly, I'm on my third try. It took me three speaker purchase to find out that I prefer Celestion style speakers to Jensens.
